Admiring His finished work
Have you ever thought to yourself "why am I struggling with this character flaw in my life"? I know I have. As I was spending time with the Lord and studying my Bible, I ran into the other 3:16, 1 Timothy 3:16. This verse opened my eye and reminded me that it's Christ finished work on the cross by which we get to enjoy the fruit of His finished work. It is God who sanctified and continues to sanctify the saint.
There is nothing within your own strength that can carry you on to the next fight. Your flesh and my flesh is weak, it always has been and it will always be weak. Our strength comes from the Lord. Psalm 73:26 tells us this; My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Now, let's not get it twisted and suppose there's no work on our behalf either. The work on our part is to submit to God and resist the devil. So there's a type of work for the believer. However the overall work is a complete work that we get to benefit from a gracious God who gave us His only begotten Son.
Jesus came in human form, the Holy Spirit proved that Jesus was the righteous Son of God, angels witnessed His birth, His years in ministry, and His resurrection. The gospel, the good news was now opened to Gentiles, people in every part of the world would put their trust in the Lord, and what an awesome truth that He ascended physically back into heaven.
Paul makes it clear in Colossians 1:26-27 that this mystery is no longer a mystery to us that have been saved. He writes; the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
May the hope of glory rest in your hearts today and until we are picked up by Him. Thank you Jesus, Thank you Jesus! Amen.
